From 5 December 2020 English law has allowed same-sex couples the same legal rights as married couples upon entering into what is called a Civil Partnership Agreement. Does the same apply in France? |

Under French law it is only possible to be advantaged under French succession law and/ or French inheritance tax by entering into a special marriage contract which is only available to heterosexual couples who are married. Same sex-couples or unmarried heterosexual couples are therefore not treated as favourably as married couples for the purposes of French succession law and/ or French inheritance tax. |
